Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones Inspired Dinner Party.

With the eager anticipation of the newest season of our HBO favorite, I thought it might be good to share some of the ideas I came up with recently for my very own Game Of Thrones themed Party. When I mentioned the idea to my husband, he responded (in his most dramatic Shakespearean accent) with "We must have Lamb, burnt black and dark ale to wash it down!" And so began the planning for our special event.

The Menu was inspired by Medieval Feast ideas found on the internet and Pinterest. The final decision was:

Aperitifs:

Warmed Cob Loaf Spinach Dip
Canapés
Mini Pies
Cheese Rounds
Spiced Nuts
Mixed Olives
Mulled Wine

Main:

Fire Roasted Lamb
Side of Salmon, smoked
Roasted Root  Winter Vegetables with Rosemary
Baked Artichoke Hearts Au Gratin with Green Onion, Parmesan and Romano
Salad of lettuce & herbs
Assortment of breads

Dessert:

Platter of Fresh Fruit
Strawberries with chocolate dipping sauce
Black Forest Torte
Enchanted Forest Torte

The Styling for the event was heaps of fun! Starting with the invitations:

Candles, fresh flowers, Braziers, flaming torches, and rustic tables laden with fruit were set inside and out. Our guests were greeted by flaming torches along the driveway and entrance, whilst our stereo blasted the theme music to Game of thrones.

Steamy mulled wine was served along with our aperitifs whilst the scent of fire roasted lamb wafted throughout the yard. My brother-in-law and dad were in charge of the 6 hour roasting of the Lamb.

My sister assisted with the hanging of Candles and Lanterns in the branches of trees.

Apples were cut out and little tea-light candles were placed in the hollow for a Medieval styled table setting.

Different sized cheese wheels layered and scattered with fresh herbs and flowers provided an alternative to the usual cheese platter.

Braziers kept us warm while also contributing to the atmosphere.

Costumes were found at local hire shops:

And the night wouldn't be right without a mysterious Dragon Egg (made from paper mache) which when placed in the fire at the end of the night revealed its amazing contents!

I'd love to hear your themed party ideas!
Winter is coming....
